What is Jigsaw Puzzle?
The jigsaw puzzle is a kind of puzzle in which small inter-connected pieces of wood or plastic are assembled into a complete picture. When
complete, it creates a complete picture.
The more advanced forms of it in the market are 3D and spherical puzzles that are more sophisticated to build. They were originally created by
John Spilsbury who was a London mapmaker and engraver.
A picture was painted on a flat piece of wood that was then cut into different sized pieces. These kinds of puzzles were commercialized in
1760. Typical pictures made on them include nature, buildings, designs, castles and mountains.
Some of them also include pictures of popular celebrities etc. There are also computer games such as Tetris that depict this kind of
puzzle.
Jigsaw puzzles are created in various sizes that range from 300 pieces to 1000 pieces. The 3D puzzles are made of wood or Styrofoam and also a
very innovative puzzle box is available that gives a beautiful three dimensional picture.
The computer version of puzzles includes various interactive games that allow the users to construct very beautiful pictures and patterns with
awesome background sounds that enhance the ambience.
Various sophisticated cutting technologies are used to create the pieces. These range from hydraulic machines to lasers.
There are various strategies to complete a Jigsaw puzzle. A popular strategy is to first complete the edges before moving inwards whereas
others are to sort the pieces according to colors and then work on them.
Whenever solving them, it is very advisable to keep the original picture in mind as it really helps to locate the position of the piece of the
puzzle equipment.
Some also have a cutting pattern in them that helps them to locate the position of the piece by noticing the actual pattern of the cut in the
picture.
